Two Shreveport men are now locked up, accused of trying to run down a Shreveport Police officer Thursday afternoon in Shreveport’s Highland neighborhood.

Just before 4:30 p.m., members of the Shreveport Police Department’s Vice Unit were conducting operations in the 600 block of  Herndon Street, when a man they were attempting to arrest,  used the car he was driving to try to run over an officer while fleeing from the scene.

The officer fired his gun at the driver of the late model Chevrolet Malibu, hitting the car twice.  The man, identified as 26 year old Curt L. Chambers of the 500 block of Boulevard Street, was fingered as the driver of the car.  25 year old Joshua Smith was a passenger in that car. Both men were arrested after the car crashed.
