The No. 1 LSU Tigers' 9-6 win in overtime against Alabama Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, Al.,  just sweetened their chances for Les Miles to grab a second national championship.

LSU over Bama

It will go down in the history books as one of the closest LSU/Bama match ups ever.  As predicted,  it was defensive.  Not one touchdown was scored by either team.

Alabama missed four- count'em - FOUR field goals,  and young quarterback,  A.J. McCarron threw a goal line interception.

I earlier posted the game would be too close to call and it was.  The game of the century was won and lost in special teams.  LSU's quarterback Jarrett Lee struggled against the Tide defense throwing two interceptions.

But,  a ready Jordan Jefferson came in to lead the Tigers to sweet victory which came as a 25-yard field goal in overtime broke the 6-6 tie as time ran out.  LSU winning 9-6 in T-Town!

Another hero for LSU was their kicker,  Drew Alleman, who  kicked 3 field goals for the win and boomed a 72-yard punt.   And let's not forget LSU's Michael Ford who nearly scored the only touchdown of the game, but stepped out of bounds in the "red zone."   That play set the Tigers up for an easy 25-yard field goal.

Today,  LSU stands at No. 1 in the AP Top 25 poll,  with Bama dropping to No. 3 and Oklahoma State now at 2nd place.

This Saturday is homecoming down at Tiger Stadium, as LSU will be taking on Western Kentucky on "Purple Day."  Pregame is  at 4 pm with kickoff at 6 pm.  You can hear all the action on your home for the LSU Tigers,  AM 1130,  KWKH.
