LSU Football: Betting Odds Reveal Intriguing Names In Coaching Race
LSU has moved on from Head Coach Brian Kelly. The big question now, the one everyone from Shreveport all the way down to New Orleans is asking...who's next? The speculation is running wild, and fans are frustrated with Governor Jeff Landry inserting himself into this situation.
With all of the issues flying around, it seems like LSU might not have their first choice of coaching options. Because with the pressure from fans, National Championship expectations, and the fact the governor will be weighing in on your job performance, this job doesn't seem as premiere as it once did. Why deal with all of that, when you can get the same resources, in the same conference, at Florida? Or get the same resources in an environment where fans and elected officials aren't calling for you to get fired every week, like Penn State.
LSU doesn't offer enough to justify all of the issues that come with it. But that's not going to stop people from wanting the job (for the right price).
The Great LSU Coaching Search
Some argue that this is still the biggest job opening in college football. But there are at least a dozen other schools looking. With about 8 of those being considered some degree of 'blue blood' programs. The amount of money teams like Penn State, Auburn, UCLA, and Florida is in the same league as LSU.
The phones are ringing, and the boosters are writing checks. But the betting markets...they might be telling the real story of who the top candidates actually are.
The Betting Favorites for the LSU Job

It's a mix of a hot name in the state of Louisiana, two former LSU Offensive Coordinators that won National Championships at LSU, and some coaches who are currently leading other SEC schools.

The In-State Pick vs. The LSU Legend
That name at the top, Jon Sumrall, makes a ton of sense. He’s right down the road at Tulane, and he’s been winning...a lot...first at Troy, and now with the Green Wave. He knows the state, he's recruited here before...he'd be a solid fit.

But that second name...Joe Brady...that's the one that gets everyone dreaming. He's the current Buffalo Bills Offensive Coordinator, but we all know him as the genius behind Joe Burrow and that historical 2019 National Championship offense. The big question is...could LSU even lure him back? Word has always been that he hates recruiting and loves the NFL...but a massive payday and total control might just change his mind.
