The exciting game was played at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge.  LSU's win over number 10 Marquette improves the Tigers' record to 8-3.

LSU gave Marquette its first loss of the season.  Marquette is now 10-1.

LSU guard Ralston Turner scored a game-high 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting including four three pointers, as the Tigers beat a ranked opponent at home for the first time since Feb. 24, 2007 (66-56 over No. 3 Florida).

Center Justin Hamilton scored all 10 of his points to help the Tigers rally in the first half.

LSU shot 53.5 percent (23 of 43) from the field, while holding Marquette to 36.2 (21 of 58). The Tigers overcame 14-of-27 shooting at the free throw line by making 7-of-11 three pointers.

Marquette was led by Jae Crowder with 22 points, while Darius Johnson-Odom added 16.

The Pete Maravich Assembly Center was loud and the atmosphere was as intense as it has been in the building in the last few seasons. The LSU crowd kept urging the Tigers back into the game after being down 13-0 and the intensity grew as LSU clawed back to trail by five, 13-8, with 13:05 left in the first half and eventually taking the lead back for the first time at the 7:50 mark, 21-20, on a Storm Warren lay in.

LSU now travels to Denton, Texas on Thursday to play North Texas in the final game before the Christmas break. LSU's next home game is at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, against Grambling.

Head Coach Trent Johnson's statement, according to published reports was, "Obviously there was a level of excitement tonight in the locker room. It's a good win for us. We beat a good basketball team. I thought our seniors,  Chris Bass, Malcolm White and Storm Warren -- we got hit in the face a little bit with that 13-0 run.  I thought those guys came in and gave us a lot of energy.

They competed their tails off and then we got back in the thing and found out that we can compete a little bit.  You know Ralston (Turner) shot the ball well. I thought from a standpoint defensively we were as good as we have been all year, and I thought we needed to be good.

John Isaac was guarding probably one of the better guards in the country in terms of being able to get his own shot and yeah he shot a decent percentage, but he had to work for every shot he got. Again, I don't want to take away from the guys' excitement and enjoyment, but it is one win.

Like I told them going into the game, regardless of what happens, there is still a lot of basketball that needs to be played. The bottom line for us is to go out and play like we are capable of playing, take care of the ball and just have some fun. For the most part that is what we did.

I thought our fans were absolutely great and got really loud. There were some times when we needed every inch of their help. It was a good win for us."
