The LSU men's basketball team is already starting to look different for the 2022-23 season as another player is leaving but another is joining the program.

Yesterday it was reported that forward Shareef O'Neal is entering the transfer portal.

O'Neal, the son of LSU basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal, averaged 2.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 14 games this season.

He transferred to LSU from UCLA after his redshirt freshman season in 2019-20.

On the flip side, the Tigers are gaining an in-state transfer as it was also revealed yesterday that Northwestern State forward Kendal Coleman is heading to Baton Rouge.

The 6-foot-8 post player from Shreveport played two seasons with the Demons.

As a true freshman off the bench, Coleman averaged 6.8 points per game while pulling down 6.5 rebounds per game. The latter led the team.

During his sophomore season, Coleman's stats took a nice uptick to 15.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He played at least 25 minutes in all but six games.

While the addition of Coleman is nice, with the loss of O'Neal, that's now three players who have entered the transfer portal since the end of the season. Brandon Murray and Xavier Pinson are the other two.

Of course, the impending NCAA sanctions against the Tigers program is a big reason for players leaving. Additionally, LSU lost the commitment and signatures of four commits over the past two weeks.

LSU fired head coach Will Wade on March 12 just days after the school received a notice of allegations from the NCAA accusing Wade and associate head coach Bill Armstrong of infractions.

Assistant coach Kevin Nickelberry served as the Tigers' interim coach in the NCAA Tournament. The team would lose in the first round against Iowa State by a final of 59-54. Three days later, LSU hired Murray State's Matt McMahon as its new head coach.
