Current Lady Techsters basketball coach Teresa Weatherspoon is used to making history on the court, now she has made history off the court.

Five-time WNBA star, and current Techsters basketball coach Teresa Weatherspoon will be the very first retired WNBA player to join the National Basketball Retired Players Association.

The NBRPA announced its historic vote by the Board of Directors to allow WNBA players to join the association.

The NBRPA made history in February, when they made Basketball Hall of Famer Lynette Woodward it's first member.

Weatherspoon, who is a member of Louisiana Tech's Hall of Fame, was a four-time WNBA All-Star during her career, after debuting with the New York Liberty in 1997. She returned home as an associate coach with the Lady Techsters in 2008. Weatherspoon was named to the head coach position in February 2009.
