The game will take place this Monday with kick off at 4 pm. The game is also being nationally televised on ESPN2.

Last year, Air Force defeated Georgia Tech, 14–7, in the 2010 AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl, the first match up of a four-year agreement with the ACC and Mountain West Conference.

This year, North Carolina will be playing it’s final game under interim head coach Everett Withers who has coached them since the preseason firing of Butch Davis due to NCAA violations.

Withers got the Heels off to a hot start winning 5 of their first 6, but they closed the year by losing 4 out of 6 including an ugly shutout at NC State and a home loss to Miami.

Withers’ team has relied on sophomore QB Bryn Renner to replace the departed T. J. Yates (Texans QB) and he’s done so admirably throwing for 23 TDs. His top target has been Dwight Jones who broke Hakeem Nicks’ school record for receptions this year.

Missouri struggled at the open of the year but came on strong at the end of the season to become bowl eligible. The Tigers’ season was marked by the developments that led to the team’s move to the SEC and that story may have been a distraction during the team’s 4-5 start.

Missouri closed out the season by beating Texas, Texas Tech, and Kansas to get into their 7th bowl in a row. Their last 2 haven’t ended well, but my pick is Mighty Mo because of their dual-threat QB James Franklin. I expect him to lead Missouri into SEC territory and get a win over a fading Tar Heels team.
