Meet Joey Lauren Adams In Shreveport, Louisiana

Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is heading back to the Shreveport Convention Center. The dates this year are August 18th through 20th, 2023.

Since its start, Geek'd Con has been one of the premiere comic con style events in the state of Louisiana. The event has generated millions of dollars in economic impact to the Shreveport and Bossier City area. While also bringing in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members, Star Wars icons, Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame members, and horror movie legends.

This year's guests include Kevin Smith, Brandon Routh, Sam Witwer, John Barrowman, Estelle (and the rest of the Crystal Gems from Steven Universe), Kurt Angle, and more. Along with Kevin Smith, a huge cast reunion for his films will be happening in Shreveport.

Part of that reunion includes Arkansas native Joey Lauren Adams!

Joey Lauren Adams is a Golden Globe nominated actress who has appeared in multiple View Askewniverse films with Kevin Smith. Her first movie in the universe was Mallrats in 1995. Then she played the main role of Alyssa Jones in the groundbreaking film Chasing Amy. She returned as Alyssa in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and then in Jay & Silent Bob Reboot.

In addition to the Kevin Smith films, she has appeared in the films Big Daddy, Coneheads, Dazed and Confused, The Program, Bio-Dome, Dr. Dolittle 2, and Bruno.

She's had an extremely successful television career as well. Initially playing the character Mona Mullins across multiple shows. Including Top of the Heap, Married...with Children, and Vinnie & Bobby. Altogether she played Mona in 15 episodes between the shows.

She also had roles in the shows Still The King, The L Word, United States of Tara, Stripperella, and Hercules.

When these guests come to Shreveport, they'll be in-person to meet fans, take pictures, and sign autographs. When it comes to the autograph part of that, things can get pretty cool. You can do your standard 8x10 picture autograph, or you can bring your own item to get signed.

In addition to the on-screen celebrities, there will be comic book and illustration guests too. These artists have resumes that include comic books, magazines, movie posters, and more.
