Richard Babb was last seen on his fishing boat with two clients near the Lake Amistad Dam in Del Rio, Texas on Saturday, February 3rd. During a bow fishing trip, the back of his boat struck the dam according to EquuSearch.

The Two Clients On His Boat Were Found Safe In Del Rio

Shortly after the collision, his two clients were recovered along with his boat. What began after that was a huge search involving many different law enforcement, as well as search and rescue organizations.

The search for the Lufkin native, also known as "Man", started quickly as all measures were used to find the missing fisherman.

Hoping for the best, as Babb was an avid outdoorsman, officials searched until they found him. According to the Lufkin Daily News Texas Parks & Wildlife Department game wardens recovered Babb's body around 9:30 AM Wednesday, February 14.

He was found 1 1/2 miles downriver from the International Bridge. Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez gave the news no one ever wants to get during a commissioner's court meeting.

He went on to thank the many agencies on the Mexico and Texas sides of the border that helped in the search. Martinez also thanked the community for helping Babb's family with food, lodging, and other necessities while they were there from Lufkin during the 11-day search.
