I try not to weigh in on current controversies unless I have something new to say about the situation. There's one point that I don't see anyone making.

The Situation

If you are unfamiliar, some sports fans don't like the attention Taylor Swift gets when she attends Kansas City Chiefs games. The surface excuse for the hate given is that it takes the focus off the game. Hmmm...now that is very odd. Am I too believe that these football fans aren't already double-fisting beers while eating snacks and checking their phones while thinking about how the action on the field is impacting their fantasy league?

How Bad Is It?

This entire thing is WAY overblown by fans who have some kind of toxic masculinity thing going. For some reason, and I can't figure out why, they have some problem with a woman getting some attention during the game (No one seemed to have a problem when Eminem was frequently shown during a different game and everyone loved seeing Jason Kelce go nuts for his brother). It seems to me that whatever TV time Swift is given is time that would have been devoted to off-field things anyway.

Why Texans Shouldn't Care

I have three words for why Texans shouldn't have a problem with women "taking the attention off the field", those words being Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Texans have never been shy about mixing pretty women with their football and if those ladies aren't a distraction, then I don't know what is. They have always taken up a ton of TV. time and give the TV crews something to pan to when the on-field action is paused.

This Whole Thing Is Weird

I find it stunning that men have a problem with a pretty lady showing up to their games. It certainly is a mixed crowd of men, moms, girlfriends, and everybody else in high school and college games, I don't know why anyone wants to pretend the NFL is a men's club.  I hope Taylor and anyone else who wants to support a team shows up and is welcome and I also hope she's tapped to do a big Superbowl halftime show so she can bring even more eyes and attention to the NFL.
