According to various reports, the Advocare V-100 Independence Bowl and the Southeastern Conference have reached agreement to send a team to the Shreveport college football game in 2012 and 2013.

The story, yet to be confirmed by Bowl officials, was first reported by KTBS-TV Sports Director Tim Fletcher (who hosts the Tim Fletcher Show from 7-9am on AM-1130 The Tiger), and later reported by cbssports.com.

The SEC will reportedly send its ninth selection (after BCS selections) to Shreveport, to play the sixth selection from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The past two years, the game has featured a Mountain West Conference-ACC tie-in.

The Independence Bowl enjoyed a SEC tie-in from 1995-2009, which featured some of the game's best match-ups and largest crowds. In 2010, Air Force represented the MWC against Georgia Tech. Last year, a agreement was reached which allowed Missouri of the Big 12 to take the MWC's spot against North Carolina.
