Keith Hanson, Chief Technology Officer for the city of Shreveport, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the new website, budget.shreveportla.gov.

Hanson tells KEEL listeners about the site, describing its user friendly design, says visitors "will see the balanced fund budget at the top, below that, the categorized budget broken down into pie charts. You can see where the largest expenses are, then each category - on each pie chart - is broken down by department."

Hanson adds that the site took about 20 hours to construct and allows citizens to follow every penny spent by the city "at the account level." He continues, " What we chose to release is the actual budget file that generates the budget book that you can download online today." He also emphasizes that the site, which went online earlier this week, is also mobile friendly.
