Even thought it was a Jamboree, the Byrd Yellow Jackets, coached by Mike Suggs impressed many fans at Lee Hedges Stadium Friday night.

Their win over the Huntington Raiders perhaps gives Jackets fans plenty to look for for the 2013 season.

Friday night's games at Lee Hedges Stadium did not count in the standings, but don't tell the men on the gridiron who wanted to showcase themselves in front of coaches and fans to let them know what they are made of.

Friday featured two 10 minute halves of junior varsity action between the Jackets and Raiders, and then two 12 minute halves from the varsity players.

In the varsity game, No. 35 Louis Mills lit up the scoreboard, as he scored three touchdowns in the first half alone!

Other players wanted to go into the end zone too. No. 10 Dominic Haggerty did exactly that, he scored for the Jackets as Byrd took a 27-0 lead into halftime.

No. 7 Tyler Johnson sealed the deal with his short run into the end zone with 2:17 left in the game. Byrd would go onto extend the lead and win by the final score of 34-0 over the Huntington Raiders.

Next Friday night, the Yellow Jackets return to Lee Hedges to take on the Zachary Broncos at 7 p.m.

You can hear the game with coverage beginning at 6:30 on 1130 The Tiger!

Just a reminder, Friday Football Frenzy begins its first show next Friday night on our sister station NewsRadio 710 KEEL.
