Jair Jurrjens made his long awaited return to the Braves pitching staff on Friday night. Jurrjens came back in the toughest of situations. His goals were to shut down the Red Sox lineup, and shut up the rowdy Fenway fans.

This has been a roller coaster season for Jair Jurrjens, who was demoted to the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves in April, after going 0-2 with a 9.37 ERA in his four starts.

The Braves offense wanted to help Jurrjens make sure he stays in the Major Leagues for good!

Matt Diaz got things started off early, grounding out to Red Sox shortstop Mike Aviles to score Freddie Freeman. Then, young shortstop Andrelton Simmons hit a double to left field, to make the score 2-0 over the Sox in the top of the 4th inning.

Andrelton Simmons wasn't done, he brought home Jason Heyward via the sacrifice fly the very next inning to make the contest, 3-0 over the Sox.

Daniel Nava, who's filling in for the injured Carl Crawford, wanted to make his voice heard, doubling to left to plate Will Middlebrooks. That made the score 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th.

Just to add a little insurance, the Braves' Freddie Freeman singled to center field and plated Michael Bourn, making the score 4-1 by the top of the 9th!

Jair Jurrjens pitched an excellent game going 7.2 innings, giving up only 3 hits and 1 earned run! Chad Durbin was credited with the hold, and Craig Kimbrel gets his 21st save of the year! The Braves win 4-1!

The Braves and Red Sox do it all over again tomorrow night in primetime at 6:15!
