Red Sox Top Braves
The injury-plagued Red Sox lineup was able to pick up a victory over the visiting Atlanta Braves last night. With Carl Crawford and Dustin Pedroia being out of the lineup, a good part of their offense is out of the lineup as well...but don't say that around the players manager Bobby Valentine put on the field yesterday!
After a Brian McCann RBI single in the top of the 1st to make the score 1-0, the Sox bounced back with the Adrian Gonzalez RBI single to bring home Dustin Pedroia, Will Middlebrooks doubled to center to send home catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, to make the contest 2-1 to end the 1st inning.
Taking you to the bottom of the 3rd inning, with the score 3-1, Will Middlebrooks makes his voice heard once again, he homers to left to make the score 4-1!
Guaranteed Hall-of-Famer Chipper Jones adds to his career offensive totals, doubling to right in the top of the 6th to plate Dan Uggla, chipping away at the Red Sox lead, 6-2.
The Braves added a few more runs by the top of the 9th, but it just wasn't enough. The Sox take Game 2 of the...whatever you call this rivalry (the former Boston crosstown series, even though the Braves have played in Atlanta since the 1960's, rivalry)?
The Braves and Sox both look to end interleague play on a high note, check out the game on TBS this afternoon at 12:35!
