Rolling Stone Magazine did a countdown feature called ‘The Worst Songs of the ’90s.’

All of we country fans can take pride in our genre, which emerged from the countdown relatively unscathed, except for one significant, and hardly surprising, exception.

Billy Ray Cyrus‘ huge 1992 hit, ‘Achy Breaky Heart,’ is the only country song to break the top 10 on the list. It came in below Los Del Rio’s enduring wedding-reception anthem ‘The Macarena’ at number two and Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’ at number one.

Billy Ray can't be happy at all to have his biggest song lumped in with songs like ‘Who Let the Dogs Out?’ and ‘I’m Too Sexy,’ but he can rest easy that his post-mullet years have been pretty successful. He’s been recording consistently since scoring his breakout hit — and he’s not a one-hit wonder, either, having logged three top 40 hits in the last decade alone.

Cyrus’ newest album, ‘I’m American,’ was released by the Disney imprint Buena Vista Records back in June. It peaked at number 24 on the country charts.
