The release of the documentary "Framing Britney Spears" from the New York Times has rekindled a lot of interest into the history of Louisiana's Queen, Britney Spears. Including a clip from The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson back in 2007.

In the new documentary, some of the biggest hurdles, and darkest times of Britney Spears' life are explored. From her relationship with Justin Timberlake, to her well publicized breakdown in 2007, it seems like nothing is off limits in the documentary. This has a lot of people showing empathy for the singer. Which is something that appears to have been lacking back in 2007, when she probably needed it most.

That empathy was in short supply for Britney in 2007, from everyone but comedian and Late Late Show host, Craig Ferguson. Here's a short clip of the monologue he delivered in defense of Britney Spears...

As Ferguson explained, in great detail, during this monologue, he himself has dealt with substance abuse issues. Which helped his recognize that what Britney needed was help, not ridicule. That realization led him to deliver this speech to his in-studio audience, who at times sounded a little unsure of what was happening.

Below is the entire monologue, and you can hear the audience respond awkwardly at times. Like they're constantly waiting for Ferguson to drop the hammer, and mock Britney the same way all other comedians and late night hosts were doing at the time...but that moment never comes.
