Get ready for some hard-hitting boxing action coming to Shreveport!

Thanks to the Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation, we're going to see some real boxing in our backyard. The Pounders Youth Boxing Club and the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission are hosting a USA Amateur Boxing Regional Jr. Olympic and Senior Tournament.

It's all happening at the Southern University-Shreveport gymnasium May 6-8.

This is a national qualifying event which means you'll see some of the best amateur boxers in the entire southern region. We're talking over 200 male and female boxers from Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama. All will be competing to qualify for the Jr. Olympic, Prep National and Youth Open Championships in Dallas this summer.

Matches will be held May 6 at 7 p.m., May 7 at 2 p.m. and May 8 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $35 for a three-day pass. Each daily pass will be $15 for adults and $5 for youth. You can purchase tickets in advance at the State Fair of Louisiana during regular business hours. Their number is 318-631-1361. Or you can get tickets at the gym on the days of the event.
