The LSU Tigers beat University of Alabama-Birmingham Saturday night 56-17 at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.

With five touchdown passes, Zach Mettenberger set a school record as he completed three passes to Odell Beckham Jr. and two to Jarvis Landry. Other LSU quarterbacks have made four TD passes in a game,but the last time was in 2007 Matt Flynn against Ohio State.

Odell Beckham Jr. returned a missed field goal 109 yards untouched for another score in the third quarter and had a 60-yard punt return for another nine-yard touchdown in the first half. Jarvis Landry caught Mettenberger's two other touchdown passes for 25 and 15 yards.

Zach Mettenberger looked excellent with 13 of 16 passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns in the first half. The Blazers scored 10 points just before halftime and LSU remained in the lead with the score at 35-17.

The Blazers never scored again for the remainder of the game allowing Les Miles and the LSU Tigers a 56-17 victory. The LSU Tigers are now 2-0 for the 2013 football season.
