Achievements:  Three sport star at Fair Park in Football, baseball and basketball.  Played Football and Baseball at LSU.  The winning-est Prep Football Coach in Shreveport-Bossier history with 217 wins.  Coached three different public schools into State Championship games; Fair Park -1952, Woodlawn - 1965 and Captain Shreve - 1973.  Coached Byrd into state championship game in 1958.  The last Shreveport public high school coach to win a state championship in the state's highest classification in 1973.  Coached several NFL players during their high school careers including Terry Bradshaw and Joe Ferguson.  Elected president of the Louisiana High School Coaches Association in 1973.  Lee Hedges Stadium in Shreveport named in his honor.  Inductee into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
