LSU Champion Angel Reese Sent To Atlanta Dream
Former LSU Tiger National Champion Angel Reese is officially moving to the Atlanta Dream for the upcoming 2026 WNBA season. The Chicago Sky have finalized a trade, sending the former Tiger to Georgia on Monday morning.
Reese cemented her history in Baton Rouge by leading the Tigers to the 2023 National Championship, beating superstar Caitlin Clark and her Iowa Hawkeyes. Resse secured the Most Outstanding Player award for that year's tournament. Fans of the former LSU player will now have to follow Atlanta to watch her professional career progress...a shift for the two-time WNBA All-Star.
Chicago Sky Acquire Future Draft Capital
The Chicago front office agreed to part with Reese, their starting forward, in exchange for multiple future draft picks to rebuild their roster. Chicago received a pair of First Round draft picks in 2027 and 2028 to complete the transaction.
The agreement also includes a swap of Second Round selections during the 2028 draft to balance the exchange between the two franchises. Reese leaves Chicago after two seasons with the organization, where she averaged 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game, leading the entire league in rebounding both years.
Atlanta Dream Secure Immediate Frontcourt Help
The Dream organization is acquiring a productive talent to reinforce a roster that achieved 30 wins under Head Coach Karl Smesko last season. Reese joins a lineup seeking to build on their franchise-record winning percentage, and ultimately compete for a WNBA title.
The addition of the former LSU forward brings immediate rebounding statistics to the Atlanta frontcourt as the team prepares for the new calendar year. The Dream will begin their 2026 regular season schedule at home on May 17th against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.
