Why Thanos Changed Between ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’
The following post and video contains SPOILERS for Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
Thanos was a very different character in Avengers: Endgame than he was in Avengers: Infinity War. Yes, the Thanos in Infinity War died in the early scenes of Endgame; the character who appeared in the rest of the film was the Mad Titan from several years earlier, around the time of the events of the first Guardians of the Galaxy. But why was Thanos such a different dude just a few years earlier? What made him change so drastically?
The new video by ScreenCrush’s Ryan Arey tries to answer that question. It compares the Thanoses (Thani?) in Infinity War and Endgame in an attempt to understand the character, and why he shifted his tactics in the time between Guardians and the end of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
