You should never be shocked when an LSU Tiger football player is projected to be an NFL Draft pick. There have been over 325 LSU Tigers taken in the NFL Draft, with 42 of those players going in the First Round of the draft. This also includes three players who have been #1 overall picks from LSU. Those #1 picks were Billy Cannon in 1960, Jamarcus Russell in 2007, and Joe Burrow in 2020. While LSU isn't going to have another #1 overall pick this year, they're going to come close.

One of the biggest NFL Draft prospects this year is LSU quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels.

Daniels will likely be the #2 overall pick for the Washington Commanders. If he's not taken at the second pick, he will probably not fall past #3 for the New England Patriots. There's a chance that a team could trade up into one of those two picks to take Daniels, so even if he's not a Commander or Patriot, he's probably going to be the #2 or #3 pick.

Once you get past that, there's the chance for another LSU Tiger to be taken in the Top 10 picks, which is kind of wild in context.

If you would have told LSU fans that they would have two Top 10 NFL Draft picks when last year's team was 3-2 after the Ole Miss loss, they would have called you crazy. Then again, if you would have told the same person that Daniels would win the Heisman at that point, they would have thought the same thing.

But now, the week before the 2024 NFL Draft, there appears to be at least two LSU players going in the Top 10. Daniels, and wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Some experts have projected Nabers as the best wide receiver prospect in this year's draft, but that might be a stretch. This year's draft features Marvin Harrison, Jr, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison. He's being called a "generational talent" by some, which might be true. He has the size, speed, and lineage to make that happen.

But Nabers is a REALLY good receiver too.

Without a player like Harrison, Jr in a draft, Nabers would be the clear #1 wide receiver prospect. Which has to be exciting for the teams picking between 5 and 10 in the draft, because they're going to get a player that should have gone much higher, Nabers, falling to them. Right now, the New York Giants seem to be the team that loves Nabers the most. They're picking at #6, but the Los Angeles Chargers also need a wide receiver, and they're picking at #5. But you could always see a team swing a trade to take Nabers too.

Whether Nabers ends up in the Top 5 picks or not, there doesn't seem to be a scenario where he falls outside of the Top 10 picks.
