Two LSU Football Players Enter The Transfer Portal
The LSU Tigers are losing two pass catchers to the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to reports.
One of the players set to leave Baton Rouge is tight end Connor Gilbreath, who played in every game last year. Gilbreath played a pass-catching position, but was more of a blocking tight end for Brian Kelly. He played over 50 snaps last season, nearly all of them coming in short yardage situations when LSU would put in a "jumbo" type formation. During the spring, Gilbreath saw his name slide down the depth chart, as LSU added the top tight end recruit in the nation, Trey'Dez Green, to the roster.
The other announcement came from wide receiver Khai Prean.
Prean was a 4-star recruit out of St. James, Louisiana. In the class of 2023, he was listed as the 15th best Athlete in the nation. Prean was recruited by Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, and Michigan...among others. But with all of the receivers on the depth chart, playing time might have been tough to come by for Prean, which is likely why he has put his name into the Transfer Portal.
But neither of these players are the first names to enter the Transfer Portal from LSU this spring. Jaxon Howard was the first Tiger to enter the Portal this Spring.
The edge-rushing linebacker was an exciting 4-star recruit for the Tigers. Last season he played in 5 games, including LSU's bowl game against Wisconsin. He only totaled 2 tackles during the season, but many had high hopes for his future in purple and gold.
Howard is still a highly sought after talent, who has been receiving offers from numerous high-level programs since entering the portal.
