Tim Fletcher Show: Pelicans, Anthony Davis Agree on Deal

New Orleans Pelicans fans, while you were sleeping Anthony Davis made you a very happy person.

The NBA's free-agent signing season opened at midnight eastern time and the Pelicans made sure their main cog didn't have time to test the waters of his restricted free agency by locking Davis up with a 5-year, $145 million extension that kicks in after this next season.

Agreed to shortly after midnight, Davis tweeted, "NOLA, I am here to stay! Just getting started...#6MoreYears #TakeFlight.

If the two sides had not agreed to a deal by October 31st, the Pelicans would have to wait until the end of next season to make him an offer---but that could have become dicey, since Davis would have been a restricted free agent after the 2015-16 campaign.
