What's up in local sports?

The LSU Tigers now know who they’ll square up against in the SEC tournament. Today in Hoover, the Tigers from Louisiana will battle the Tigers from Auburn, following Auburn’s 6-3 win over Kentucky. Jared Poche will take the pill to the hill. LSU fared well against Auburn this season, winning two out of three at home. Jared Poche, who’s 7-1 this season, didn’t fare so well in his last start vs. South Carolina, giving up five runs earned runs and nine hits. LSU and Auburn can be seen on the SEC Network, but you can listen to Jim Hawthorne and the crew from the LSU Sports Radio Network on 1130 The Tiger. Pre game coverage begins at 4, first pitch at 4:30.

The NSU Demons have never won a conference championship. Coach Lane Burroughs and his players look to change that this time around. Their journey to the top begins today in Sugar Land, TX, the site of the Southland Conference tournament. They’ll face Houston Baptist at noon.

The Calvary soccer program has a new coach, following the retirement of longtime coach Shelley McMillan. Adam Hester has been named the new coach for Calvary Baptist Academy. Hester was Evangel’s head soccer coach from 2002-2004, and served as an assistant coach for Calvary for the last three seasons.

The Bossier Lady Bearkats also have a new head coach. Assistant coach DeShawn Williams has been bumped up to the top. This comes after former coach JC Dickey’s resignation.

Saints kicker Shayne Graham, who’s only missed three field goals this season, has been released by the team. With the NFL altering the rules on Tuesday, pushing point after touchdowns to the 33-yard line, Graham missed a 33-yard PAT in the preseason last year, when the NFL experimented with this rule. Graham has been with the Saints since 2013, after the release of kicker Garrett Hartley.
