When high school football fans file into stadiums for season opening games in early September, they will see the uniforms of their favorite schools---AND the familiar black and white striped shirts of the referees.

This typical scene was in question before Sunday's face to face talks between the Louisiana High School Officials Association and Louisiana High School Athletic Association, which led to the two sides reaching a non-binding agreement to end the threat the ref's would not work week one without a plan in place to up their pay for just the third time in the last quarter-century.

Specifics of the agreement have not been released, but optimism abounds.  Monroe-area officials president Ron Turner told Gannett Louisiana, "Obviously we are happy that an agreement has been made and hopefully it will be something that will follow through
