Nick Fairley's heart condition is still unresolved, so the New Orleans Saints are taking some steps to help protect their depth chart in case the bad news continues.

Fairley is waiting on a third opinion on his worsening heart condition, which is actually something he's been aware of and has played with his entire career. But this year a doctor noted that his condition has been getting worse, and it might now be to the point where he can no longer play.

So this week, the Saints made a move to pad their depth chart at his position. The Louisiana Radio Network has more:

"The Saints have signed veteran free agent defensive tackle Tony McDaniel after concluding their three day mini camp in Metairie. It speaks to the precaution the team is taking in case Nick Fairley can’t play this season due to a heart condition. Coach Sean Payton said Thursday there is nothing new to report on the Fairley situation."
