The New Orleans Saints Owner Has A Horse In The Kentucky Derby
Today is the Kentucky Derby, and in case you're a casual fan who's still looking for a horse to cheer on, we've got something for you to consider.
If you're a fan of the New Orleans Saints, or the New Orleans Pelicans, you have a horse in this race.
The Owner of the Pelicans and Saints, Gayle Benson, has a horse running today. But her horse, Lone Sailor, is one of the biggest long shots to win. The jockey will be James Graham, and the horse drew the eighth post.
I will be honest, I don't know anything about horse racing outside of Secretariat, betting, funny hats, and mint juleps. But that doesn't stop me from paying a little attention to the Kentucky Derby every year. Not enough to explain why Benson's horse is a long shot, but enough to find stories behind the race itself. When celebrities get tied into a horse, or a celebrity makes a stupid bet and wins a bunch, I find some entertainment there.
So I will be paying attention to Benson's horse. Because it would be a great story for the family if after Tom Benson's death this year, his long shot horse shocked the racing world.
