Shreveport Teen Is One of 4 Escapees Recaptured in S. LA
A Shreveport teen is one of five juvenile offenders who escaped from a juvenile lockup in the New Orleans area. The others are from south Louisiana. 4 of the 5 have been recaptured after escaping through attic at the jail.
Four of the escapees were recaptured after allegedly stealing a truck in Jefferson Parish and leading officers on a chase. Officials say the stolen truck flipped over in Opelousas. One of the inmates is still on the loose and is believed to be on foot in the area.
The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice identified the five escapees as Curtis Tassin (New Orleans), Jaheem Mealey (Baton Rouge), Abraham Goodley (Lafayette), Bryson Lamelle (Lafayette) and Darreyon Thomas (Shreveport). Tassin is still on the loose. He has a history of violence. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
The teens, ages16-18 broke out of the Bridge City Center for Youth after what has been described as a "breach of protocol" when one teenager accessed a swipe card and he was able to let the other teens out of their cells. They made their way to the roof and ran off.
