Surprise! It Looks Like A Few I-20 Ramps Are Closed Next Week
While actually travelling on I-20 should be relatively normal next week, at times getting on or off the interstate could get challenging.
In an announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we find out that road crews are planning to temporarily close a number of entrance and exit ramps in Shreveport and Bossier City for construction.
What crews will be working on is the repair of various crash attenuators. A damaged one is featured in the photo above. A crash attenuator, also known as an impact attenuator, is a device intended to reduce the damage to structures, vehicles, and lessen injuries to motorists resulting from a collision. These devices are designed to absorb the colliding vehicle’s energy.
The schedule for those closures is as follows:
LA 1 (Youree Drive) northbound to I-20 eastbound entrance ramp on Monday, May 1 from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am
I-20 westbound exit ramp at Exit 18B (Line/Common Street)on Monday, May 1 from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am
I-20 westbound exit ramp at Exit 19A (Spring/Market Street) on Tuesday, May 2, from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am
I-20 eastbound exit ramp at Exit 19B (Traffic Street) in Bossier City on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am
As with all other projects from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, this work will be done weather permitting, so the possibility of alternate hours or postponement does exist.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
