The Holiday shopping season is upon us. From Black Friday sales all the way to the last minute Christmas Eve shopping sprees, Americans are going to spend a lot this holiday season.

The personal finance website WalletHub has put together a huge research study on how much the country will be spending on the holidays. They actually went above and beyond, and broke down the spending per city, for 570 US cities.

Wallethub's team of experts for this research included K. Scott Swan, Ph.D from the College of William & Mary and Jason Stornell from Oregon State University. Meaning there's quality research behind these numbers.

Nationally, experts predict the US will spend about $730 billion dollars for the 2019 holiday season. The city that is expected to have the highest household holiday budget in the United States is Palo Alto, CA. The expected household budget there is $3,160.

Three cities in the Dallas area land inside the top 10. Flower Mound, TX is at #3 spending $2,937. Frisco, TX is at #6 on the list spending $2,836, and The Woodlands, TX comes in at #7 with an expected spend of $2,833.

As far as Shreveport and Bossier City go, the expected holiday budgets are much lower.

Bossier City is ranked #321 in the country with an average spend of $647, while Shreveport is ranked #515 with an expected spend of $464.
