We already know that you don't get away with drinking and driving in Bossier. It's one of the first things I learned when I moved to Bossier, "You will get caught if you have so much as an ounce more than you should."

How did Bossier gain this reputation?

Probably because of all the random sobriety checkpoints they set up.

According to responsibility.org Louisiana had 216 alcohol-impaired driving fatalities in 2018.

Do you know how much a DUI costs you in Louisiana?

Fines start at $300 and go up to $1,000. If your alcohol blood alcohol level is over 0.20 your starting fine shoots up to $750. You can also anticipate 10 days to 6 months in jail. Your driver's license could be suspended for up to 12 months.

It's never a good idea to drink and drive, it could also cost you a lot of money.

With the help of the Louisiana State Police Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday evening, September 18th, 2021. The checkpoint will be at an undisclosed location and starts at 8:00 p.m., and continue to run through early Sunday morning.

“The goal of the checkpoint is to identify and remove impaired drivers from the road before they cause injury or death to themselves or others, and to increase public awareness of the seriousness of driving while impaired,” the Sheriff’s office said in a release.

The DWI enforcement is happening thanks to a grant awarded to Bossier Parish Sherriff's Office on behalf of the Louisiana Safety Commission. If you see someone driving and you believe they are under the influence you are encouraged to call the Bossier Sherriff's Office at (318)965-2203.
