Smackdown Gets Some Major Additions to Their Line Up

Traditionally, the Monday night Raw after Wrestlemania is one of the most insane nights over the year for the wrestling community. But, for the first time ever, Smackdown is live, it's own brand and has to follow that act.

While, generally speaking, the show wasn't that great (Trips, not every one of your friends needs to be the head of something. Road Dogg shouldn't be running a car wash let alone a multi-million dollar television show), it certainly did have some monumental, game changing moments.

After 11 plus years in a WWE development system, Tye Dilinger FINALLY made his main roster debut. Which was an awesome moment, his Perfect 10 gimmick was so over. It was a great moment for him and his fans. Personally, I hope Corbin wins the IC belt and Tye gets in that picture pretty quickly.

But, the craziest and most important debut was that of the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura! It's crazy to think that this time last year, Nakamura was just wrestling his first match in WWE after spending the majority of his career in Japan. Nakamura is the most charismatic and gifted story tellers in the world and I can't wait to see him use his gift on the biggest stage possible.

While Nakamura didn't wrestle, cut a promo or any of that, he did completely change the Smackdown landscape. On a roster lacking main event talent, he should carry that brand into the future. At the moment, other than AJ Styles and John Cena, there really isn't another top notch superstar. You have solid talent like Dean Ambrose, the Miz, Baron Corbin and others who are great but none on the level of Nakamura.

Now, next week there will be a roster shakeup where superstars will be switching brands via trades, cuts, free agency, etc.. so who knows what will happen there. But no matter what, we are entering the 'Age of Strong Style' and it feels damn good!

Oh, and the best part, with Wrestlemania in New Orleans, it is a pretty safe bet that we'll be getting a show or two here locally!
