Shreveport’s Tillery Drafted in the First Round of the NFL Draft
Former Evangel Eagle Jerry Tillery is now heading to the NFL.
The giant defensive lineman was selected with the 28th pick in the First Round of the NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers.
Tillery caught a ton of attention at the NFL Combine, when he carried his nearly 300 pound frame across his 40 yard dash in under 5 seconds. His physical freak abilities were also on display when he checked in with a 32 inch vertical leap.
Now Tillery is on his was to Los Angeles, to join a team who was pretty dominant in the AFC last season, ending the season with a 12-4 record in the regular season.
Interestingly, the Chargers franchise was the same NFL Draft landing spot for another Evangel Eagle and Shreveport football star. Back in 2008, the Chargers selected running back Jacob Hester out of LSU in the third round.
Based on the Chargers current defensive depth chart, Tillery could be in line to start right away.
