Shreveport's Sam Burns fired a two over par 72 Thursday in the opening round of the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis.

The Calvary High grad, who's headed to play for LSU this fall, made three birdies and five bogeys on the TPC Southwind course.

Burns, the USA's top ranked junior golfer, will tee off for his second round tomorrow afternoon at 1:40. The St. Jude Classic is Burns' second PGA tournament of the year. The 18-year-old star missed the cut at San Antonio's Valero Texas Open in March.
