Shreveport police are investigating a Friday night shooting on the west side of town that left a teenager wounded.

The police department issued this statement:

Shortly before 7:00 p.m . on February 9, 2018, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to the 6900 block of Clift Avenue relative to a shooting.  Upon officers arrival at the scene, it was determined a 14 year old male was suffering a gunshot wound to the back of the neck and an additional wound to his left foot.  The teen , who was conscious and breathing at the arrival of medics was transported to University Health for treatment of injuries which were later determined to be non-life-threatening.

In gathering information, it was learned the teen was accompanied by an associate as they walked along the 6900 block of Clift Avenue.  It was learned a suspect dressed in all dark clothing was walking in close proximity to the victim, when he produced a handgun and begin firing randomly.  Evidence of the crime was located near where the victim reported being shot.
