As we get set to go back to school for the 2022 year, you will find something new in several Shreveport neighborhoods.

The city is teaming up with Blue Line Solutions to install cameras in 10 local school zones. These cameras will snap photos of drivers going too fast in the school zones and send a ticket in the mail.

The company says this effort is aimed at reducing speeding and streamline the ticketing and collection process.

As we kick off this school year, this program will be in place in 10 local schools during phase 1:

Southwood
Captain Shreve
Caddo Heights
Southern Hills
Westwood Elementary
Creswell Elementary (Highland Avenue side)
Greenoaks
Atkins Elementary
Caddo Magnet High School
Woodlawn High School

There will be a 30 day grace period as this program begins. So for the first month of the program, drivers caught speeding will get a warning.

Blue Line will install the cameras and get the program up and going in the next couple of weeks. Then we will move to phase 2 for these schools:

Linwood Elementary School
Calvary Baptist Academy
Creswell Elementary (Creswell Avenue side)
Summerfield Elementary
Caddo Career and Technology Center
AMI Kids Lakeshore Middle School
Fairfield Elementary
Riverside Elementary
Claiborne Fundamental Elementary
Booker T. Washington High

Blue Line provides the equipment and surveillance and will also send out the tickets and manage collections. They get a piece of the action for each ticket paid to the city.

The company says "we multiply police manpower – allowing your officers to be elsewhere – to help our agencies get the job done and protect our neighborhoods."
