The test scores for the candidates to be Shreveport's next Chief of Police have been released. KTBS reports the Shreveport Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board put the scores out today. Of the candidates, here are the highest scores:

Samuel Wyatt, former Bossier Police Department, 94
Marcus Mitchell, former Shreveport Police Department, 92
Wayne Smith, Shreveport Police Department, 89
Jason Frazier, Shreveport Police Department, 87
Dorian Brabham, Lafayette Police Department, 86
Michael Jones, Shreveport Police Department, 86
Michael Tyler, Shreveport Police Department, 84
Kenneth Wall, Sulphur Police Department, 83
Marcus Hines, Shreveport Police Department, 80

All of the candidates reportedly passed the test. A passing score is a 75% or higher on the test. These tests were held on December 9th, 2021, and the results are being made public for the first time today.

Among the three highest scores are two names that have generated a lot of interest in this hiring process. First is Wayne Smith, who is the Acting Chief of Police in Shreveport. He scored an 89 on the test, giving him the third highest score among the 9 candidates. Smith tested as a candidate for the position in 2019, when Ben Raymond was hired. On his 2019 test, Smith scored an 86.

The other intriguing name is Marcus Mitchell, who scored a 92, the second highest among the candidates. Mitchell was the Chief Administrative Assistant for the Shreveport Police Department until November of 2021 when he was fired by Acting Police Chief Wayne Smith. Mitchell was fired for "violating rules and regulations" of the department. KTBS reported that Mitchell was fired for engaging in sex acts with a fellow officer inside an SPD office.

During the last hiring process for a Chief of Police in Shreveport, Ben Raymond scored the highest in the testing, and was eventually hired as the Chief. Interestingly, Raymord's score of a 94 is the same as the high score on this round of testing, which was former Bossier City Police Officer Samuel Wyatt's score.
