Shreveport Carjacking Turns Deadly on New Year’s Eve
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Detectives have an investigation underway into what information says is a carjacking turned deadly.
On December 31, 2022, just before 1:45 a.m., Shreveport Police Patrol officers were dispatched to 3215 Knight Street on reports of a shooting. Officers located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot injuries. Despite the Shreveport Fire Department’s efforts, the man was pronounced deceased on scene.
Officers secured the scene and contacted investigators with the Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Units who arrived and launched their investigation. Through witness interviews, detectives learned that the man and a female companion were sitting in her car on the parking lot of the apartment complex when two armed individuals knocked on their windows and demanded money. The two occupants of the vehicle told them they had no money and the suspects removed the two victims from the car and shot the man multiple times, then fled in the victim’s vehicle. The victim was shot by both suspects. The vehicle was recovered a short time later and had been burned.

A man shot several times and found dead by police in an east Shreveport apartment has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.
Kristopher T. Lewis, 44, of Shreveport, was found by officers investigating a reported carjacking. The decedent was presumptively identified pending fingerprint comparison.
The death remains under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department, to which media should direct further inquiries.
An autopsy was ordered. Lewis's slaying marked the 51st homicide in Caddo Parish in 2022, and the 49th in Shreveport in that same period.
