The start of next week might be a wet, and a little more. Forecasters have been sounding the alarm for the last few days that a rough storm system could be slamming into the Shreveport and Bossier area.

Its hard to predict exactly what this system will do when it arrives in North Louisiana, and its also hard to predict exactly when it will arrive. But we do know that forecasters from the National Weather Service are concerned about the system, and believe it will arrive early next week. They have put out multiple alerts about the system, suggesting that the public needs to be ready.

The National Weather Service posted an advisory that says:

"Confidence continues to increase on the potential for strong to severe storms, including all severe hazards on Tuesday."

They explained all of the hazards they are forecasting further in the same advisory, which includes "Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes will be possible." They add that details will become more clear as we get closer to the start of next week.

The National Weather Service offers a list of procedures to follow when getting prepared for severe weather. Here's what they have on their website:

Severe Thunderstorm/Tornado Safety Basics:

1. Get In:

  • Put as many walls between you and the outside as possible.
  • Stay Away from doors and windows.

2. Get Down:

  • Get to the lowest floor possible. Basements are best during tornadic or very high wind situations.

3. Cover Up

4. Remain Calm

Again, we're not sure yet exactly how strong these storms will be, exactly what locations they will impact, or specifically when they will arrive. But the forecast shows all of the elements for a severe weather outbreak lining up for next week.
