Remembering the Time LSU Fans Created an Earthquake [VIDEO]
What can we say, LSU fans are loud!
For those visiting Louisiana, there are a few things that will be learned immediately. We have good food, good hunting and fishing, and good sports. And the love for LSU runs deep anywhere in the state.
Recently I found an article on Readers' Digest titled 50 Astonishing Facts You Never Knew About the 50 States. Now if there's one thing we know about our LSU Tigers they are definitely astonishing so I had a feeling that our "astonishing fact" would have to be about the university that we love so much. And I wasn't wrong.
Did you know that LSU fans were once so loud at a football game that they created an earthquake?
No joke. In 1988, our Tigers were in a tight game with Auburn. A last-minute LSU touchdown in the fourth quarter sent the fans into a frenzy. The eruption was so loud that it actually registered an earthquake on a local seismograph.
Here's a clip of that touchdown. It's hard to tell just how loud that place was, but you can feel it. And if you've ever been to a game at Tiger Stadium well... you know.
