The superstar who was "the Voice" of  the 80's and 90's -  Whitney Houston -  will be laid to rest this Saturday after her funeral at the church where she first sang as a child.

The owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, N.J.,  says there will be no public memorial for the star.

The funeral service will be by invitation only,  according to Carolyn Whigham, reflecting the family's desire to keep the memorial more personal.

"They have shared her for 30 some years with the city, with the state, with the world. This is their time now for their farewell," she said. "The family thanks all the fans, the friends and the media, but this time is their private time," she said.

Houston's funeral is being held at the church where she sang as a child, New Hope Baptist Church in Newark.

The 48-year-old singer died  Saturday at a the Beverly Hilton  just hours before she was set to perform at producer Clive Davis'  pre-Grammy Awards party.  Officials said she was underwater and apparently unconscious when she was pulled from a bathtub.

Reports have circulated that there were several different prescription drug bottles found in her hotel room and they she may have died from mixing alcohol with drugs like Xanax and Valium.
