It 's not because there's not enough drama going on in this year's World Series, featuring the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals,   but,  according to the latest Nielsen ratings,  people just aren't watching.

2011 World Series Game 5 - St Louis Cardinals v Texas Rangers

The Rangers and Cardinals, with three games decided in the sixth inning or later, are producing the best World Series drama since at least 2002, when home run king  Barry Bonds   was on center stage with the San Francisco Giants, only to be lose in seven games by the comeback kid Angels of Anaheim.

That was the most recent seven-game World Series, and tonight will mark the second Game 6 in eight years.

The Rangers, with a 3-2 lead, are one victory from the first World Series championship in its  51 seasons.  The Cardinals,  who faced elimination for nearly the last two months,  are two games from pulling off one of the greatest comeback seasons in sports.

But if you're not in St. Louis or Dallas-Fort Worth,  there hasn't  been much interest.   According to ratings information,  none of Fox's broadcasts has drawn better than a 9.2 rating.   That's the second lowest since the Nielsen ratings started tracking the Series in 1984.

Is this generation so plagued by Attention Deficit Disorder.  I mean do we watch "Dancing With the Stars,"  or "X-Factor?"   And, what's more important to us?  College football with the incredible SEC teams like LSU and Alabama,   or the NFL,  with the New Orleans Saints and the Dallas Cowboys.  And speaking of  Dallas,  how about the NBA and Maverick superstar Dirk Nowitzki, who threw out the first pitch in Game 3.

Whatever is causing the lackluster ratings,  at least some of  us can still get our baseball fix.   And,  I'm hoping the Texas Rangers take it all the way this time with Game 6 tonight!
