The No. 1 LSU Tigers are headed back home to Death Valley to take on the No. 3 Arkansas Razorbacks in what I have deemed the new "Iron Bowl."  The "Iron Bowl" traditionally is the name given to the annual match up between Alabama and Auburn.

The No. 2 Crimson Tide will play that game against Auburn Saturday.  But the new "Iron Bowl"  will be the game for everything, all the marbles for LSU,  especially.  If the Tigers beat Arkansas Friday at the Cathedral of College Football,  they'll be in the Bowl Series Championship game that will decide the national champion.

LSU for the first time ever is undefeated with a perfect 11-0 record.  They had no touble with Ole Miss Saturday,  giving the Rebels a whippin'  by a score of 52-3.

At the same time,  Arkansas Razorbacks fans were in "hawg heaven"  after the hogs cleaned house against Mississippi State,  44-17.   This should be a really close game at Tiger Stadium with the edge going to LSU because of home field advantage as well as an amazing defense, especially against the pass.

Against Ole Miss, LSU played all three quarterbacks,  starting with Jordan Jefferson,  then playing Jarrett Lee and even putting in the rookie but much heralded quarterback named Zach Mettenberger.

Mettenberger was offered scholarships by Texas A&M, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Cincinnati and Louisville in addition to LSU.

He played a little during the Ole Miss game and if that's any indication of  things to come, the No. 1 LSU Tigers will be even better next year.

Razorbacks fans can hear the Arkansas/LSU game on our sister station 7-10 KEEL,  while LSU fans can hear it announced by Jim Hawthorn as usual on AM 1130,  KWKH.   Pre-game is at 11:30 am Friday with kickoff at 1:30 pm.
