Saints QB Tyler Shough Named Finalist for NFL Rookie of the Year
A rookie season for the record books...Tyler Shough didn't just step onto the field this year, he commanded it from the very first snap. The rookie signal caller took the reins of the New Orleans Saints, and never looked back. Putting up some video game numbers that got the whole league buzzing about the future in New Orleans.
While he didn't start the whole year, once he hit the field Shough completed nearly 68 percent of his passes, 10 passing touchdowns, 3 rushing touchdowns, and threw for over 2,300 yards...in just nine starts. Now double those in your mind to project what he would have done with a full season...4,600 yards and 26 total touchdowns? Come on.
He shattered franchise rookie records, and looked like a ten-year vet while doing it. Shough showed the kind of poise and precision that usually takes years to develop.
How You Can Help Shough Win Rookie of the Year
Shough has been named a finalist for the NFL Rookie of the Year Award for his efforts. He could become the first Saint to win the award since 2017...when TWO SAINTS won the award. That year, Alvin Kamara won the Offensive award, and Marshon Lattimore won the Defensive award. No Saints QB has ever won the award.
Now comes the part where Saints fans need to step up and make some noise. This isn't just about stats...it's about the fans showing the world who the real Rookie of the Year is by casting your vote.
Head over to the NFL voting page right now and smash that button for our guy before the polls close. This award is decided by the fans...so it's up to us to make sure the hardware comes to Louisiana, where it belongs.
Stacking Up Against the Rest
Shough is in some heavy company for this award, facing off against guys like New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart and Carolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan. It's a talented field...but nobody has meant more to their team's success down the stretch than the Saints QB1. The team would probably only have 1 or 2 wins without him.
While the other finalists had nice seasons, Shough's impact on the Saints offense was undeniable and immediate. He turned the season around and gave fans a reason to believe...so fans should return the favor, and make sure he gets the recognition he's earned.
