It helps if you keep telling yourself "at least its not a winter storm", but there is another weather threat moving into Shreveport and Bossier City this week.

Over the weekend, the National Weather Service posted some details about a potential storm for this week. Being 5 days ahead of the potential weather, it would have been hard for them to post specifics about the forecast. Basically, they could see action in the upper atmosphere that had a very good chance to turn into a storm front that would slam into the Shreveport area.

As the week rolled on, the forecast models continued to show severe weather potential over the Ark-La-Tex.

Now, a day away from the potential severe weather moving in, we have a better idea of what to expect. Instead of watching for tornadoes or hail, now it would appear the biggest threat is flash flooding. That doesn't mean that its impossible for a tornado to develop with these storms, but right now, the forecast shows flooding rains as the biggest threat.

According to the risk assessment the National Weather Service posted, the rains have the potential to start this afternoon, and carry through Thursday. Though the flooding isn't anticipated to be a concern this evening. But as the rainfall increases into Thursday, the chances for flooding will increase with it.

The risk currently presented by the National Weather Service falls into the "Slight" category, which represents a 15% probability. Its the second level of their probability scale, which is a 1-4 scale.
