Murder charges have been dropped against a Logansport man.

It began as a missing persons case, then a homicide investigation, and less than 24 hours after a suspect was in custody, charges were dropped. 33-year-old Jarrod Johnson was arrested Friday under the suspicion of the murder of 21-year old Maranda Whitton. Desoto Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle says his deputies decided to drop the murder charge when initial autopsy results could not immediately determine a cause of death. Johnson was the last person to see Whitton alive. Whitton's body was found Friday afternoon in a pond along Old Mansfield Road in Logansport. The investigation continues.
