LSU’s College Football Playoff Chances After Beating Ole Miss
Well, it was a big win for LSU Saturday night in Death Valley. The #9 Rebs were feeling frisky and looking at a College Football Playoff berth. While the 13th Ranked LSU Tigers were still scrambling to patch up both offensive and defensive units that have been stricken with injuries. Honestly, a lot of fans were losing hope in LSU competing for a College Football Playoff spot. But look where we are now.
After LSU beat Ole Miss in overtime, the Tigers now have some of the college football writers around the nation back on the bandwagon. This team was left for dead going into the South Carolina game. When LSU traveled to South Carolina, there were so many national voices saying that the Tigers were done, they were overrated, and they weren't going to make the playoffs. But that tone has changed now.
Sources like Fox Sports are now putting LSU back into the College Football Playoff mix. Which is probably deserved at this point...but there's still a long way to go.
Texas A&M is still lurking on the LSU schedule, and that won't be an easy game. Obviously Alabama is a tough game. Then, you never know what Oklahoma is going to bring to the table.
If LSU runs through all of their schedule, and earns a spot in the SEC Championship game, they're probably getting into the College Football Playoffs...as long as they don't get blown out in the SEC Championship. If they lose to Alabama, but win everything else, they've got a really good chance.
But if they lose two more games, you can probably take the College Football Playoffs out of the equation. However, if there's some weird way that they can make the SEC Championship game with 3 losses, they can win that and get into the playoffs.
Their chances are definitely better after beating Ole Miss, but there's still a lot of work to do.
