LSU’s Baseball Fate to be Decided Sunday

One game.

Winner goes to Omaha and the College World Series.

Loser looks to next year.

LSU and Stony Brook will play a third, final and deciding game of the Baton Rouge Super Regional Sunday, after splitting the first two games. First pitch is set for just after 12 Noon. You can hear the game on 1130 The Tiger, and watch the game on ESPN 2.

The Tigers won Game 1 Saturday morning, 5-4 in 12 innings. The game resumed with the start of the 12th inning, after being called Friday because of rain. In Game 2 which began 50 minutes following Game 1, Stony Brook evened the series with a 3-1 win.

LSU took the opener when Mason Katz drove in Tyler Moore in the bottom of the 12th. Ace pitcher Kevin Gausman, who was scheduled to start Game 2, pitched the 12th and retired the side.

In Game 2, Gausman got the start, but did not get much run support. Moore came to the plate as the tying run in the 9th inning, but popped out to third base.
